Once we had a dream about a farm
We dreamed of a starting a farm. We lived in town (although it was a small town in America) it was still town. Our home was right next to a hospital with the helicopter landing pad. The home had 12 acres in town but we ended up selling 10 acres of the land to the city we lived in for it to become a nature preserve. We still had 2 acres. We did all I could to make it “our farm” but we continued to dream of more land. We spent years looking and dreaming. We learned to raise chickens and garden while living there. We had a good life at our house in town, but we still wanted to do something different. We even became grandparents while living there!
That dream of a farm came true
In 2020, we finally were able to purchase this farm (that is another whole story….you can read about it LLLLLL).
Beginning again on this acreage
Transitions are hard sometimes. It does not matter if it is as small as moving across town or moving across the country. Transition means CHANGE. It means you need to stop and evaluate all the things you have spent years doing. However, transitions are good because you have to deal with things that you have put off for a long time. We have went through a lot of transitions to get here.
We majorly downsized to move to the country. We decided the land was more important than the house. We decided that it was time to follow our dreams and jump in starting a farm from scratch.
Brief history of the this land
This farm was built in 1918. It has been cared for by 2 other families. We are the 3rd family to get to care for this land. The farm was taken care of by the last family but there are many things that need to be fixed and repaired. We are slowly working towards reviving this land, home, and barns. We can’t wait to venture into animals (especially bison)!
What’s next on the farm
We will be reviving this farm with our family. Starting over with orchards, gardens, and animals. There will be a lot of homeschooling and family life mixed in. Fixing the house and barns are on the list with lots of cooking and cleaning added in.
